In the 16th century, the Italian architect Calvi finished the building of the walls of Ibiza Town , the same walls which are obvious today. Ibiza, also known as the 'island of light', has long been a favoured destination for artists because of the stunning clarity of air and the amzing scenery which had been a source of inspiration for them.

The interior of the island and much of the coastline is astonishingly pure and can be effortlessly explored, and Ibiza's historic Old Town is  worth visiting  for  those of you that are interested on the cultural side of the area as well. The old town, enclosed by historic walls and entered through the Puerta de las Tablas, contains some interesting sights,  like  the Archaeological Museum. Also in the old town   you may find  the cathedral with its 10th-century Gothic tower and 18th-century Baroque  style that will  undoubtedly amaze you .
